Entrepreneur and Author, Doris Idahor shares a simple but powerful guide to help individuals achieve personal and professional productivity:
The following lines you are about to read may look simple but believe me when I say this might be the ONLY thing you need to read today.
I know that the previous months did not quite turn out the way you wanted it to be.
You probably did not hit your half-year goals.
You probably did not even START!
You may be feeling like you wasted the previous months doing nothing.
I completely understand how you feel and that is why I am sharing this with you.
If truly you want a different result for the rest of the year, then this is a DON’T MISS
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO RIGHT NOW:
1. Evaluate the previous months.
Take a sheet of paper and answer the following questions. Don’t skip each one and don’t move to the next until you feel that you have done justice to the one you are on.
WHAT DID YOU DO RIGHT?
What wins did you have? What books did you read? Did you enroll in courses? Did you make certain decisions that were beneficial to you in the long run? Did you show up despite challenges?
This list may be long but keep writing. It is very important to know the things that you consider as wins so that you can position yourself to do more of them during the remaining months of the year.
WHAT DID YOU DO WRONG?
What do you feel bad about? Did you play with any opportunity and missed out on it? Did you procrastinate on any project? Write down EVERYTHING you remember.
WHAT SHOULD YOU HAVE DONE INSTEAD?
You are going to be your coach. Now write down what you should have done more of and less of during the previous months. Take a mental walk through all the months and begin to write down what you should have done. Should you have registered for that course? Should you have saved more money? Should you have started that business?
Write down all that you can remember.
2. Evaluate the next six months
WHERE DO YOU WANT TO BE AT THE END OF THE YEAR?
Now you are going to project your mind into the future.
Think of December 2020. Think of the end of year celebrations.
How much do you want to have?
What kind of people do you want to have in your circle?
What do you want people to describe you as?
Write down all that you want December 2020 to look like for you.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO TO ACHIEVE THAT?
Well done, if you took the time to answer the previous questions, you just described your VISION 2020.
NOW IT IS TIME TO DEFINE YOUR JOURNEY
What do you need to do to achieve that VISION 2020 that you described?
What new connections do you need?
What books do you need to read?
What courses do you need to take?
What do you need to cut away from?
What habits do you need to form?
What habits do you need to stop?
Simply describe the activities you need to be doing. These are the action points that you need to focus on for the rest of the year.
3. Set your goals
Using the evaluation you just did, set your goals for the next few months.
Make sure they are specific and measurable.
After setting your goals, write them down.
Using the action points you wrote earlier on, write down what you need to do to achieve those goals.
4. This is the last but very important step.
TAKE ACTION.As simple as those words are, this is where so many people fail.
Some people get paralyzed by fear of failure, rejection and uncertainty.
Others become too lazy and undisciplined to take action.
No matter what, commit to taking action.
If you follow each of the steps above, mark it down. You would be glad you did at the end of the year.
